HUCKERBY HAT-TRICK SINKS
FOREST
Coventry 4-0 Nottingham Forest
Darren Huckerby fired his second
successive hat-trick to leave
Nottingham Forest rooted to the
bottom-of-the-Premiership.
Forest caretaker-manager Mickey
Adams, temporarily in charge in
place of the sacked Dave Bassett
earlier in the week, could do little about the Sky Blues
hitman, who scored his sixth goal in two games after a
treble against Macclesfield in the FA Cup last week.
Huckerby struck the woodwork after 32 minutes but on
the stroke of half-time made amends with a rising shot
that gave Dave Beasant no chance. Then two minutes
into the second he added his second with an exquisite
chip over the stranded 'keeper.
Coventry killed the game off in the 55th minute when Paul
Telfer volleyed home from the edge of the area. And to rub
salt in Forest's wounds Huckerby drilled home a
memorable hat-trick 15 minutes from time.
Forest have now gone 18 games without a Premiership
win, and Ron Atkinson, who has guided both Sheffield
Wednesday and Coventry to safety, will have one of the
most difficult tasks of his career if he decides to take on
the managerial job.
